Fayette Nursing & Rehabilitation Center presents local organizations with $1,000 donations

Fayetteville, W.Va. – Fayette Nursing & Rehabilitation Center (N&RC) presented two local agencies with donations from the AMFM Charitable Foundation, Inc. The Fayette County Emergency Food Assistance Center and the Fayetteville Lions Club both received $1,000 donations.

The Fayetteville Lions Club, chartered in 1954, provides a wide range of services to the Fayetteville area. One of their local initiatives is to provide vision exams as well as eyeglasses to adults with low income. Other activities include Adopt-A-Highway, annual Bridge Day activities and as sponsors of the July 4th Fayetteville Heritage Festival and Fayetteville Lions Club Invitational Track and Field Meet.

Additionally, the Fayette County Emergency Food Assistance Center received a donation to help in their mission of providing food and nutrition to area residents. The original food pantry served 35 families when it began in 1986 as the Garten Pentecostal Holiness Church. Soon, the organizers expanded the services to all of Fayette County.

By the end of 2004, the food pantry served an average of four hundred families with monthly food distributions. Now, the organization provides bread, deli and dairy products to a thousand families.

“Both groups do a lot of important work in our county,” said Sue Cogar, Executive Director for Fayette N&RC. “There is a lot of need in our community and we are proud to be able to help those in need.”

Fayette N&RC received a deficiency-free state inspection and is a 2015 Bronze National Quality Award recipient from the American Health Care Association/National Centers for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL).
